Will Mr Inbetween return for season 4 after s3 ending

Mr Inbetween came to a dramatic end last night with the season three finale.

The Foxtel drama, starring Australian actor Scott Ryan, aired its first episode in 2018 and has achieved glowing critical success across its three seasons.

And while fans are eager for more, unfortunately it was decided prior to filming the latest season that it would be its last, with no season four on the cards.

Ryan, who also wrote the series, told news.com.au in May he felt it was time to close the chapter.

“I’m still getting better as a writer and as an actor. This was my first professional gig, but I feel like I haven’t hit my stride yet,” he said.

“The best is down the road and that’s exciting.”

Despite the disappointment, bittersweet fans have taken to Twitter rating the finale episode a “10/10”.

It may have only been on the silver screen for the past three years, but Ryan began his journey as Ray Shoesmith more than 15 years ago for his 2005 mockumentary film, The Magician.

Stuntman and film producer Nash Edgerton – the brother of Aussie actor Joel Edgerton – saw a half-an-hour version of The Magician at the St. Kilda film festival, which was self-funded by Ryan with a budget of $3000 and shot over just 10 days.

Edgerton then took the project under his wing and the pair managed to receive $330,000 in government grants to have it made into a film before adapting it for television.
